The Driving Force Behind It All

A simple word with a ton of meaning

Passion. One word, two syllables and seven letters. While this may not be a word we all use in our day-to-day life, it's something we all carry with us deep in our subconscious. It doesn't matter if it's a person, a business or even a long-awaited trip, we all have something we are passionate about and compels us to make the decisions we do day in and day out. Sometimes you know was it is from a young age and other times it finds you later in life, but no matter when it finds you it's instantly a silent motivator constantly pushing you to be better.

Growing up I had a lot of hobbies, like A LOT. I stuck with some like golf and video games, but others like model cars or any number of sports fell by the wayside sooner than later. I didn't discover photography until I was in my early 20's, but once I was in I was hooked. I had always been intrigued by photography, but all my other interests kept me from wanting to spend the money on it. That all changed the day a friend of mine was upgrading and gifted me his old camera. Ever since then I have constantly looked for ways to improve my craft, learn new methods and pursue new opportunities to be behind the lens as much as I can (which is ironically where the name for my blog came from).

You're reading this thinking "Ok, but what's the point?" Well the point here is that to me photography isn't just another thing I do for fun or to make some extra money. For me the real joy comes from those images that make my clients say "wow" and truly capture what they're most passionate about. There's the old adage that "a picture is worth a thousand words", but a truly great photo illicits emotions in those that hold them most dear. This is one of the reasons I love working with families, couples and seniors most because the photos they're looking for are ones they will treasure forever and usually mark a milestone or moment of significance to them. My greatest compliment is when clients reach out saying they look at photos from past sessions and think what a great day it was and that they'd like to do another session to create some more great memories together.

I know this was a bit of a lengthy post, but to me these types of things are important to the people I love working with. If you're deeply passionate about something, no matter what it is, I want to hear from you!
