Engagement for Josh & Joli

Quarry Hill Park - Rochester

I met Josh & Joli for their engagement session down in Rochester for my second time shooting at this beautiful park down in Rochester. Thankfully for me, they had been here before and knew of a few spots they wanted to go to. One of the things I noticed about them, despite their saying they weren't big picture takers, was that they seemed very comfortable with each other which is always a great way to go into a session with new clients. We explored some new-to-me spots of this sprawling nature park and talked about how they had met on an app and how Josh had proposed at his sister's wedding and how it was her idea so she could be a part of their story. They talked about how they had had this huge wedding planned at this old hotel in Wisconsin for a week so they could have a reunion and a wedding all in one since they would have everyone together in one place for the first time in a long time, but ultimately scrapped that idea in favor of a road trip around the country and to elope in Las Vegas so their blended family of three kids could be more involved in the whole process. Between hearing their love story, how they opted for including their kids over a big wedding and the usual laughs along the way I left this session with that feeling that reminds you why you're a photographer and the kinds of people you hope to work with along the way.
