Getting Back To My Roots
Capturing all the action on the pitch!
For the second year in a row, I had the honor of shooting the Eastview High School girls soccer program. This year, however, I shot the entire program and not just the varsity squad. For me it was great to see the level of talent across the program and how the girls develop as they stick with the team through their high school years. I was even fortunate enough to see a girl be called up from the junior varsity squad to the varsity team for the second half of the season which was super cool!
Watching these games as they happen and seeing the season unfold was incredible to watch, especially since fans were allowed in the stands again this year as opposed to last year due to COVID. I also used this season as an opportunity to try out some new techniques like a remote setup behind the goals and shooting from other areas to try different angles and viewpoints.
One of the things that I love most about being able to work with these teams is seeing all the player's reactions to photos and hearing how much the parents love the action shots and having something to look back on of their kid's season. It seemed like within 24 hours of sending a gallery I would have emails from parents telling me how much they love the photos or ask me for more photos like another one they had seen somewhere else and just constantly thanking me for being there and capturing these memories. That's one of the biggest compliments for me personally as a photographer is the gratitude and appreciation of the people enjoying the photos and hearing the excitement in their voice when they talk to me about them at every game.
It was near impossible to narrow down my favorites from the season, especially with covering four different teams, but I added a good chunk added below to enjoy!
