A Look Back & Some Updates

What happened and what's coming...

To say 2024 was a roller coaster of a year would be an understatement. On a personal level, the year was one I'd rather not remember where we also had to put down two of our dogs within a month of each other for the cherry on top. On a professional level, I had the best year I've ever had and saw measurable growth in almost all aspects of the business.

I started the year off with a short list of things I wanted to do to try and grow the business, but to put it bluntly life just had other plans for me in 2024 and unfortunately a lot of those things just didn't materialize. Objectively speaking I could have tried harder to make a few of those things happen, or at least attempt them, but free time and motivation were pretty low for me so I just kind of took what came my way most of the year.

On the portrait side of things I saw a lot of improvement in both new customers as well as returning customers. I was a little down in the seniors part of my business, but I also didn't try nearly as hard as I could or should have to get those clients. Where I did see a huge uptick was in family sessions, especially those looking for something quick and simple like the fall mini option I offer from September to October. Overall the portrait side of things was very streaky aside from the predictably busy fall

The sports portion of the business was up a little bit, but the more important aspect was I was fortunate enough to continue my relationship with the lacrosse and football teams I've been working with the last few years. In addition to this continued work, I also took up a new part-time role with Farmington High School as their Media Coordinator for the athletics and activities department. The new role has been a lot of trial and error and feeling things out since it's so new, but I think it's been good and I'm learning a few new things along the way as well as getting to help other students with sports photography which is always fun to do.

For 2025 I am trying to stay more on top of planning and growing the business with reminders set to check on where I'm at and make sure I'm actually staying on top of things. Some of those things are:
